Our Humble Beginning

Patria Child Development Centre began in 1986 at Faber Heights when our government encouraged homemakers to rejoin the workforce. It was also Michael's passion and commitment to early childhood education that led the founding of the center. It offered childcare and student care services. In 1987 the centre was among the first ten Centers to receive government subsidy for working mothers. In our first year of operation one of our nursery children, Jacquelin Chia received the Gold Award in the MOE Singapore Youth Festival.

Patria Kindergarten started in 1987 at Normanton Park which attracted local as well as expatriate children. The school offered English and Mandarin as first languages which attracted expatriate parents who desired their children to learn Mandarin. The school made the learning of the language easier & less stressful by utilising a creative approach in basic strokes for word formation. Parents who were Japanese, HongKongers, Americans, Cambodians & Russians were also keen to learn Mandarin themselves. The climax of the school year culminated in the annual concert which is the pride of parents, then leading to the graduation ceremony for the K2 children. As part of our community involvement we participated in community projects like the annual Christmas party for less priviledged children.
We are grateful to Patria Kindergarten for giving our daughters, Luo Ying and Shu Yi, a good headstart in their learning journey. They are now in National University of Singapore. Their creativity and potential were enhanced by the well-balanced curriculum of Patria where English and Mandarin were taught as first languages. The teachers were caring and supportive, creating a conducive learning environment We whole-heartedly commend Patria to every parent who wants the best for their children.
